Sam Beam on stage known as Iron & Wine brings up to you his new single ‘Call It Dreaming’ via Sub Pop. It will be followed by an album by the end of August and has the potential to be become your summer soundtrack while sitting outside and listening to deep and steady Singer / Songwriter melodies!
Le Trouble’s debut full length album ‘Making Matters Worse’ sounds like all five bandmates and their individual styles playing off each other and ultimately shining through. To the rest of us, it’s homebrewed Pop with honest lyrics and big hooks that might sound calculated, but are actually are cathartic ‘fuck you’s’ they needed to let out.
Ya Tosiba is a young Electronic music duo by Norwegian-Azerbaijani Zuzu Zakaria and Finnish Skweee pioneer Tatu Metsätähti aka Mesak, that mixes old street poetry traditions from Azerbaijan with underground Electronic beats. Their sound is inspired by classical Arabic and Persian music, Scandinavian Electronic traditions and Hip Hop – a raw blend of analogue synthesizers, DIY elements and unpolished sounds, heavy Electronic beats mixed with traditional instruments and rounded off by Zuzu’s hypnotic vocals!
There’s no stopping Dub-Stuy Records. Their new 12” brings together resident producer Bukkha and one of London’s most recognisable voices, Killa P. The result is a deadly cut that takes no prisoners and is backed by an equally heavy instrumental paying homage to the pioneers!
Released in 1983, Guy Cuevas’ 12” Single ‘Obsession’ is probably one of the best French Disco-Boogie records, enriched by Jean-Paul Goude’s artwork for the cover. The A-side’s Nassau Mix by François K is a sensual and airy journey, while the B-side’s London Mix offers a more realistic approach that will please the more classic-listening disco enthusiasts. In Bonus Track you got also a very cool and Nu Disco Jazz Remix by Jay Airiness!
Rockster just released his 8th single – ‘Heartbeat’ is a collaboration with Singer / Songwriter Kay Ree. Her powerful Soul voice gives ‘Heartbeat’ a remarkable touch. Rockster’s Poptro club sound combined with Kay Ree’s vocal performance will take you to the next level… Get your groove on, pump up your Soundsystem & feel the ‘Heartbeat’!
Vels Trio’s sound is an explosive blend of virtuoso Jazz, hefty basslines and infectious melodies. The EP has been produced by Dan Leavers (The Comet Is Coming, Soccer96) and mixed at Total Refreshment Centre. ’40 Point’ features Mercury Prize nominee Shabaka Hutchings (Sons of Kemet, The Comet Is Coming, Shabaka & The Ancestors). The artwork has been designed by renowned artist Raimund Wong.
